Deptford Folk Night 25th April featuring Martin and Max, Tommy and Alex plus floor spots!

Hi all,

Further folking up will be happening on 25th April!

We have two very familial featured acts for April – our first act will be the father and child duo of Martin and Max Howard who will be performing folk with a punk edge, an eclectic mix of original songs and classics.

Our second act will be the brother duo of Alex and Tommy MacDonald who will be bringing a baffling mix of Celtic folk, labour songs, blues and New Orleans jazz to the table.

There will also be plenty of slots available for anyone who wants to sing a song, play a tune, do a dance or read a poem – all acoustic and unamplified in true folk club style, of course!

Although entry is free, we have a suggested donation of £5 if you like what you hear.

Things will kick off from around 7:30, but would recommend turning up from around 7 if you want to secure a floor spot.

Look forward to seeing you all there!

Although entry is free, we have a suggested donation of £5 if you like what you hear.

Saturday 2nd November 2013 – ONE YEAR HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOOTING FOLK PARTY! Featuring Skiffle and The Piffles

Yes, we made it, in November we will have been running for one whole year!  It’s been a great year, and we are very lucky to have some fantastic regular floor spot performers who are a huge part of the night as well as lots of great guest acts.    To celebrate, we have the eight piece Skiffle and The Piffles as our guest act for the night, plus floor spots of course!

Skiffle piffle

Inspired by the rockabilly, folk and bluegrass of the 50s and 60s, 8 piece Skiffle and the Piffles formed in 2010.  Taking inspiration from the greats like the Carter Family and Wanda Jackson, they stir up a mix of girl group harmonies, stomping rhythms and finger pickin’riffs in their own unique style that is sure to have you singing along and dancing on tables.  Dusting off the washboard, accordion and box drum, expect a contemporary take on some old classics and many brand new tracks from their recent “Bones in the Ground” EP and beyond.
