Saturday 6th April 2013 – featuring Green Diesel

green diesel

Green Diesel are a group of Kentish folk musicians determined to inject their own dose of electricity and youthful exuberance into the folk scene. Raised on the classic folk-rock sounds of Fairport Convention, Oysterband and The Albion Band, the band’s rich sound draws on a wide range of influences, as funk and klezmer sit side by side with Morris tunes and ancient murder ballads.

2012 was  hugely successful for Green Diesel. They gigged consistently throughout southern England including headlining the Sandwich Folk and Ale Festival, supporting James Yorkston, and playing to a sell out crowd at the June ‘Brighton Folk’ event. The band also travelled to Shrewsbury for a live  session for the BBC’s ‘Genevieve Tudor’s Sunday Folk’.

Last year also saw the release of the band’s debut album ‘Now Is The Time’, recorded in a converted oast house with producer Roger Cotton. ‘Now Is The Time’ is a true reflection of the Green Diesel sound, and has been praised for its innovative original songs and high quality musicianship.
