1st February featuring Lunch Special plus floor spots

Hi all,

Happy New Year, all – our next event is taking place at a slightly different date from usual as we will be putting it on as part of Independent Venue Week, the UK’s annual 7-day celebration of independent music and arts venues, as well as the people that own, run and work in them.

Our featured act for the night will be London country/bluegrass stalwarts Lunch Special, a trio of musicians who perform, in their own words, a tubthumping mix of bluegrass, country, and gospel, combining mind-blowing vocals, close-knit harmonies, and rambunctious energy.

As always, there will also be plenty of slots available for anyone who wants to sing a song, play a tune, or read a poem – all acoustic and unamplified in true folk club style, of course!

Although entry is free, we have a suggested donation of £5 if you like what you hear, with all money going to the featured act.

Things will kick off from around 7:30, but would recommend turning up from around 7 if you want to secure a floor spot.

2nd October featuring Bird in the Belly plus floorspots

Hi all,

For our second gig of 2021 at the Gorringe Park we have the brilliant Bird in the Belly as our featured act.

Bird in the Belly is a Brighton-based group composed of Laura Ward and Adam Ronchetti, Ben Webb and Tom Pryor.

They create what have been described as “hypnotically original compositions” based on little known and forgotten lyrics, poems and stories from around the UK.

As before, there will be floor spots for those who want to sing a song, perform a tune or play the spoons.

Those who want to perform should come along at 7:30pm to put your name on the list. Doors 7:30pm. Music starts at 8pm.

As we creep slowly back towards some kind of freedom, we’re still doing Zoom singarounds and the latest is 6th March!

February is upon us, dry January is over (if it ever started!) and we’ve got another great act at the Gorringe Park for Tooting Folk.

Bird in the Belly is a Brighton-based group composed of folk-duo Hickory Signals (Laura Ward and Adam Ronchetti), alt-folk singer-songwriter Ben Webb (Jinnwoo, Green Ribbons), and multi-instrumentalist and producer Tom Pryor.

They create what have been described as “hypnotically original compositions” based on little known and forgotten lyrics, poems and stories from around the UK.

As always there will also be floor spots! Those who want to perform should come along at 7:30pm to put your name on the list.

Doors 7:30pm. Music starts at 8pm. Entry £6.
