18th June featuring Alex & Martin plus floor spots

Hi all,

We’re still having a few issues with the dates at the moment (hence why there was no event last month) and this month we’re having to move the night to the 18th June as well – we will be back to our usual time for future events though!

Because of the booking problems, this month our organisers Alex and Martin are going to take advantage of their positions to do featured slots themselves (and banking the money for use in future gigs – don’t worry, this isn’t an embezzlement scheme!)

Martin Howard is a well-known figure in southeast London’s music scene, promoting the long running Acoustic Anarchy nights at waterintobeer in Brockley and putting on a monthly night upstairs at the Shirkers Rest SE14. As a singer-songwriter, his folk-punk stylings cover a range of topics including ornithology, police spies, capitalism and dinosaurs.

Alex MacDonald co-founded Deptford Folk after running the Tooting Folk club in Tooting (duh) for many years. He plays and sings a heady mix of blues, old-time music, calypso and traditional British folk, mainly on the guitar and banjo.

Although entry is free, we have a suggested donation of £5 if you like what you hear.

Things will kick off from around 7:30, but would recommend turning up from around 7 if you want to secure a floor spot.

Look forward to seeing you all there!

Alex, Martin & Sarah.
