Saturday 5th January 2013 – featuring Josienne Clarke & Ben Walker

Jos and Ben3

With Josienne’s unique voice and Ben’s intricate guitar and mandolin playing, this duo do a beautiful job of combining traditional folk with honest and original song-writing.  Influenced by greats like Martin Simpson, Bert Jansch, Pierre Bensusan and Richard Thompson, Ben’s fingerstyle on guitar and mandolin add magic to Josienne’s already sculpted sound.  They have performed alongside many current and established folk acts including Martin Simpson, Ric Sanders of the Fairport Convention, Jim Moray, Sam Carter, Steve Tilston, Blair Dunlop, Emily Portman, Mary Hampton and Emily Barker, and have been played on BBC Radio by Mike Harding and Genevieve Tudor, and others.

Both sing, play guitar and autoharp, Rabouhi’s voice is compared to blues singers such as Lucille Bogan and Bessie Smith and Damon can turn his hand to the flat-picking of Doc Watson and blues harp of Sonny Terry.
